Step 1: Attend a Mandatory Information Session 

Step 2: Meet with a Study Abroad Adviser 

After attending an information session, you should visit the Study Abroad Advising page to make an appointment. Before the appointment make sure to complete the intake form. After you narrow down your program choice and the term, you may proceed with requesting an application. When selecting programs, students should consider any prerequisites and other eligibility requirements. 

Step 3: Request an Application from your Study Abroad Adviser

All Pitzer students must submit the Pitzer College Study Abroad Application. The main components of the application are:

• Academic Information
• Applicant Information 
• Academic Adviser's Approval 
• Essays
• Transcript

The application for non-approved programs will include:

• Non-approved program details
• Essays. Essay prompts will solicit information about your academic goals, how your chosen study abroad program enhances your academic plan at Pitzer, and why the non-approved program you selected meets your educational goals and an approved program does not.
• All other components required of students applying to approved programs. 

Step 5: Submit Your Application by the Deadline

Typically, there are three priority application deadlines (see below). However, extended deadlines may occasionally be offered at other times of the year for select approved programs. 

Note that deadlines for all approved programs during the Fall or Spring occur two semesters before your intended study abroad term. For example, you must apply in November to study abroad the following Fall semester or full-year term. All non-approved program applications for the following academic year (Fall and Spring) are due in November of the previous year. There is never an extended deadline for non-approved programs. Non-approved program applicants must meet the November 15, without exception.
